WINE TASTING & BENEFIT ART SALE: January 14, 2012, 6:00-8:00 PM
NEW ART 2012 EXHIBITION: January 15 - February 29, 2012
On Saturday, January 14, 2012, the d’ART Center hosted INCOGNITO ~ New Art New Wine 2012, an annual wine and champagne tasting reception with a new twist - a Benefit Art Sale!
Guests had a GREAT time tasting international wines, Virginia wines and champagne, listening to Jim Newsom Jazz Quartet and sampling delicious tapas from Shula's 347 and Granby Bistro.
The INCOGNITO Benefit Art Sale was a big success affording patrons the opportunity to purchase original 8" x 10" artworks for only $112.00.
Check out this year's event pictures and video of the INCOGNITO Gallery doors open for artwork selection!
ABOUT INCOGNITO!
Patrons - from sophisticated art supporters to first-time collectors, artists and art enthusiasts - are encouraged to trust their instincts and their eye to guide their selections, the twist - the signatures are on the back and the Artist identities are revealed only after purchase.
The element of surprise that underlies INCOGNITO reflects the element of discovery that inspires d’ART Center’s exhibitions, education, and outreach programs. All proceeds directly support the d’ART Center celebrating 25 years of creativity!
For the modest sum of $112.00, patrons can be the proud owner of an iconic piece of artwork and a d’ART Center benefactor. What’s the catch? The artists’ names are withheld until after guests hand over the check. Each 8" x 10" piece is signed on the back; and the Center’s policy is strictly first come, first serve.
That means that the Artwork patrons suspect to be the work of a Master could turn out to be the brilliant work of a talented new Artist !
The purpose of INCOGNITO is not to confuse and torment. It is meant to tap into to the best part of any good exhibition. Viewers are challenged to "trust their instincts" and look for Art, rather than resale value. And patrons with $112 or $120,000 budgets have the same chance of landing their dream piece of art.
Come taste great wines and enjoy local favorite ~ the Jim Newsom Band as they provide hot jazz entertainment. Taste the best of downtown with signature hors d’oeuvres by Shula's 347.
Mike Sears, a nationally celebrated entertainer and d'ART Center Director, will delight guests with stunning magic effects, captivating humor and mystifying trickery.
The d'ART Center has had an amazing year with our educational and community outreach program, d'ART Smart, providing art instruction to at risk and under-privileged children in the Hampton Roads community.
Funds generated from the event continue the mission of the d'ART Center and support programs for the 2012 season.
