Persistence IV: d’Art Center’s Annual National All Women’s Exhibition

Persistence is an annual exhibition that features work from female artists from across the country to celebrate Women’s History Month. This exhibition is open to functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in all mediums. In honor of Women’s History Month, this exhibition is only open to female artists, and is held at the d’Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia. This exhibition is open to all female artists living in the United States, and historically receives over 600 submissions from over 200 female artists annually!

This exhibition will feature work in a variety of styles. Work may be no longer than 60” in its longest dimension and weigh no more than 50 pounds.

*** Depending on artist installation involvement, size and weight restrictions may be waived by contacting the Gallery Manager directly prior to submission.

Solo Show Opportunity in The Vault during Material III

Description


This one hundred and thirty two square foot exhibition space is a historical bank vault within The d’Art Center, and gives artists an opportunity to exhibit their work in a unique space in the heart of Norfolk Arts District!

The d’Art Center Vault exhibits a solo show of one selected artist through the duration of each Main Gallery Exhibition.

The Vault is adjacent to the Main Gallery, all styles and aesthetics are considered, and is open to functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in all mediums.

The Vault can fit between 12 - 15 pieces depending on the sizes of the works.

Proposed solo shows do not have to fit the theme of the Main Gallery exhibition, however, artists are more than welcome to propose a solo show based around the Main Gallery Exhibition theme.

This specific solo show opportunity occurs during our national exhibition, Material III.

Material is an exhibition of original fiber artworks from across the country. This exhibition will highlight the quality and variety of fiber art, and is open to functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in fiber. Mixed media works are welcome as long as fiber is a major component.

This exhibition will feature work in a variety of styles. Work may be no longer than 60” in its longest dimension and weigh no more than 50 pounds.

Juror

This is a juried exhibition, and it will be co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley, and exhibition juror, Ryan Lytle.

Ryan Lytle (1987) is a Richmond based artist from the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. He earned a B.A. in Studio Art from Christopher Newport University and his MFA from the Rinehart School of Sculpture at the Maryland Institute College of Art. He currently is interested in the process of needle-felting and how the medium has the ability to provide a nostalgic comfort reminiscent of his extensive childhood stuffed animal collection. He draws inspirations for his work from mythologies, existing animal archetypes, as well as nature documentaries and observation.
