Amy Twisdale - Mixed Media and Painting
Amy Twisdale (Amy Twiz) is a self-taught plant and animal artist from Norfolk, Virginia. She has her B.S. in Women’s Studies from Old Dominion University and is currently working towards her Master’s in School Counseling. Community and connection is the most important aspect of art to Amy. It also serves as a therapeutic and healing act for the artist.
Amy currently runs The Hive Collective in the Railroad District with her partner, Mark Fussell. They house several working artists as well as musicians.
I am, and will always be, led by the energy around me. My impressionistic plant and animal paintings are about that energy and the healing I have found in our human connection with nature.
The bright, textured nature of my paintings represents the diverse tapestry that not only weaves our collective human story, but all life on Earth. It takes a conscious effort to see beauty in everyday things, and hopefully, my vibrant and detailed portrayal of wild animals, plants and our domesticated best friends will help you to see life in a brighter light.
