First Thursday - April 5th - It's not WHAT you Paint, it's HOW you Paint!

A make and take led by resident artist Janice Gay Maker! Have some interest in using oil pastels, but simply don't know where to even begin? Join Janice the first Thursday of April to learn some basic oil pastel techniques and about line, value, and color use! Once you've got the basics, we're sure you'll enjoy putting them to the test as you try your hand at rendering a still life!

Janice Gay Maker (Norfolk, VA)
Born and educated in Boston, Janice received her BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art in 1982.  She has painted full-time and maintained a studio at the d’Art Center in Norfolk since 1991 Creating contemporary landscapes & oil pastels that are infused with light, rich in color, texture & energy, she has exhibited extensively throughout the area.

Second Saturday - April 14th - Mask Workshop

Create a unique wearable mask from assorted materials! Our mixed media artists will provide inspiration and guidance through the process. All participants will leave with a finished mask!
