My specialty is abstract painting, which possesses a fabric-like quality and very strong color. Through an interplay of color, line, and texture, my work has a mixture of painting, drawing, embroidery, sewing, and beading. With a studio in D’Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia, I have a large array of pieces on display. I also conduct Fiber Art classes for young and older students. A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, my work is primarily in mixed media and fiber. In 1974, I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design from then Norfolk State College. My work attempts to express experiences, concerns, aspirations, and uniqueness. African and Native American heritage are evident in each piece that I create.
