Eleanor Powell - Resident Artist - Open Studio #5 - Painting
Eleanor Powell (nee McDuffie) was born August 5, 1922 and raised in Washington, D.C.. She received a B.S. in economics from George Washington University, followed by four years in the WAVEs, until her marriage to Lt. Raymond H. J. Powell. They had eleven children. In 1975 she began working as an office manager at Old Dominion University, where she was able to study, and achieved an M.F.A. in studio art. In 1990 she joined the d’Art Center. Her paintings are abstract geometrics in acrylic on canvas, and hang in private and public collections in the U.S.A.
