NANCY TOPPING BAZIN switched to art after teaching literature and women’s studies at universities for 38 years, mostly at Old Dominion University in Norfolk.  Her art is often described as unique, intuitive, happy, fun, and, most of all, whimsical.  She is best known for her Whimsical Bird Series and has had solo exhibits of this series, for example, at The Artists Gallery, the Norfolk Botanical Garden, and the Meyera E. Oberndorf Library in Virginia Beach.  Nancy displays her works continuously in Norfolk, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach.  She has received numerous awards, exhibited in state and international exhibits, and had her works published in several art books.  She has also published her own book entitled WHY I LOVE TO PAINT BIRDS.
