Ned Lessig - Painting

Ned Lessig grew up drawing in hilly Pennsylvania before heading to even hillier Alfred University in New York for a B.F.A. with a concentration in painting and printmaking. His senior exhibition at Alfred consisted of a series of landscape paintings and steel plate etchings inspired by The Lord of the Rings books. While working as a special education teacher’s assistant, he completed his teaching certification at Kutztown University in 2013 and then moved to the decidedly not hilly Virginia Beach. He has been teaching middle school art in Virginia Beach since then.

Ned draws his inspiration primarily from myth, music, and whatever wilderness he can wander. Working primarily in acrylic, he continues to explore stories through their landscapes and find a sense of wonder in their rocks, trees, and light. He still enjoys long walks in Middle-Earth.
