Vivian Davis is a multidisciplinary artist and art instructor traversing disciplines of illustration, painting, sculpture, and installation. Prior to relocation to Virginia, Vivian founded several art programs in Carroll County, MD providing budding and experienced artists of all ages the ability to learn from other artists, and to attend regular workshops and instructional lessons. She is currently the President of the Chesapeake Bay Art Association, and a resident artist at d’Art Center in Norfolk.
A Miami born Cuban, Vivian grew up in Atlanta, Georgia drawing and painting her way through her gypsy lifestyle. After studying at the Atlanta College of Art, she started her career working as a Graphic Artist, but her love was the contract work she did in scenic theatre and video production which afforded her a variety of materials. While dabbling in the early stages of video animation, she won a Southern Regional Emmy Award for a computer animation title of a PBS documentary. Taking a sidestep and entering the hectic world of financial marketing, her work as a trainer is how she discovered her passion for teaching others, public speaking and leading demonstrations. Vivian cherishes the freedom she has found to experiment with a variety of mediums and styles. She has received awards for her work in pyrography on live edge wood, and large marshmallow covered sculptures made of recyclable materials and/or carved foam. Vivian paints primarily with acrylics and does demonstrations in wine and watercolor.
